The following group of CDV's I purchased from an antique dealer sometime ago. He was a dealer I had known for a short time and thought he knew what he was doing, well it turns out he did not because they were all FAKES. After a while another friend, Doug York of Civil War Shop in Virginia Beach, contacted me about some CDVs he had purchased from the same person. While at a local Relic Show Doug was wondering why no one was asking about a certain group of CDV's so he asked another dealer what the problem was. He was told by the dealer that they were fakes and he was shown how to tell them from the real thing.
The way you can tell this is by looking at them through a good magnifying glass and in some cases even just looking at it them. In any case you will see dots instead of the smoothness that you would normal see. This is because they were made with the use of a PC and printer. These printers print in dots per inch instead of the way a photo is normally processed. If you see these dots by all means DO NOT buy the image!

Below the images are a group of I.D. Discs, Slave Tags, Buckles, and buttons.
