Buttons from Camp Grimes

The following buttons I found in Camp Grimes along the James River. The camp is now gone. The State of Virginia along with the knowledge and philosophy of the state Archeologist have preserved the camp for posterity. They did so by only changing it's name from Camp Grimes to Interstate 664, but alas even after doing so the old camp still did not die without a fight, it still managed to give us some of it's history to share and enlighten others on what these men enduried for a cause they thought was right.

This is one of two Louisiana buttons
I found. They are both same style, size
and back mark, La 6A, vest size, with a
"Scovill Mfg. Co./Waterbury.
These two buttons are from the First
Louisiana that was stationed there for
awhile.

Norfolk Academy button vest size
and with a R & W ROBINSON/
*EXTRA*.

The two Maryland buttons were found
about 40 feet apart. The coat button
is only what you see it has no back, but
along with the cuff button they are both
MD 11C, although the cuff button does
have a Jacob Gminder*** backmark.
